Adult First Aid/CPR/AED
$80 Per participant

The Adult First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, seizures, diabetic emergencies, stroke, anaphylaxis, epi pen use, choking, shock, concussion, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims aged 12 and up. This program teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years.

 

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
$90 Per participant

Basic Water Rescue
$50 Per participant
Course Length: 4 hours

This 4-hour certification course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies by teaching them how to protect themselves while assisting others. Basic Water Rescue does not provide participants with all the knowledge and skills needed to be certified as a lifeguard. Basic Water Rescue is intended for public safety personnel, camp personnel and day trip leaders, daycare workers, school teachers, aquatic fitness instructors, aquatic therapists, anyone involved in aquatic activities and others who work around water.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Basic Water Rescue, valid for three years.

 

Babysitter’s Training
$95 Per participant
Course Length: 7 hours

Start your babysitting business on the right foot and learn how to be a safe, professional, and reliable babysitter. The American Red Cross offers child care education that’s not only convenient, but valuable to you, and the families you care for. The primary purpose of the Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to give care safely and responsibly for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills and be the best babysitter in their neighborhood. They will learn how to generate a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. This training is designed for youths ages 11 to 15.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Babysitter’s Training that does not expire.

Advanced Courses

Lifeguard Training
$275 Per participant

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program offers a choice of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.

Prerequisites
Candidates must:
1. Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course.
2. Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
3. Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
4. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:

  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
  • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath.
  • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years.

 

CPR For the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider
$100 Per participant

The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers program is to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. Participants will identify the responsibilities and characteristics of professional rescuers, learn the series of events that occur when the emergency medical services (EMS) system is activated, understand how legal considerations affect professional rescuers, recognize a life-threatening injury or illness, when it is appropriate to call for more advanced medical personnel, instances in which a victim should be moved, recognize and care for a breathing emergency, learn how to use a resuscitation mask and a bag-valve-mask resuscitator (BVM) with two rescuers, how to care for an obstructed airway, the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, how to perform one rescuer and two rescuer CPR (adult/child and infant) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider, valid for two years.

 

Basic Life Support
$80 Per participant

The purpose of the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) course is to ensure that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals and healthcare providers) have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes active, hands-on learning and uses scenario activities to help participants learn how to provide one rescuer and two rescuer CPR, multiple rescuer response, how to use an AED and relieve an obstructed airway for adult, child and infant patients. Participants will learn how to check both a conscious and unconscious patient, how to give effective ventilations to a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest and/or respiratory arrest, including using a resuscitation mask and bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitator.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers, valid for two years.

 

Wilderness and Remote First Aid
$150 Per participant
Course Length: 18 hours

Prerequisites:
Possess a current adult CPR/AED certification
Be at least 14 years of age on or before the last scheduled session of the course

This course provides participants a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response. This includes wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Participants will learn the importance of immediately establishing control of the scene and starting the primary assessment, how to do a secondary assessment, calling for help from a delayed-help perspective, evacuation of a victim, field assessment for injuries to the head, neck, back and spine, altitude illnesses including acute mountain sickness (AMS), high altitude cerebral edema (HACE) and high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE), the contents of an adequate wilderness and remote first aid kit, heat-related and cold-related illnesses, field assessment for injuries to muscles, bones and joints, and controlling bleeding.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Wilderness and Remote First Aid, valid for two years.

 

Emergency Medical Response
$450 Per participant
Course Length: 51 hours

Provides participants the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder (EMR) to help sustain life, reduce pain and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advanced medical personnel take over. In addition to the CPR for the Professional Rescuer skills, participants will learn to use airway adjuncts, emergency oxygen, the signs and symptoms of medical, environmental and behavioral emergencies, including altered mental status, seizures, poisoning, substance abuse and misuse, heat-related illnesses, cold-related emergencies and stroke, the components involved in access and extrication, the different types of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and how to respond to HAZMAT incidents, the purpose and functional positions of the incident command system (ICS) and the role of the EMR in the ICS, types of multiple-casualty incidents (MCIs) and the principles of triage, the role of EMS operations during terrorist, public health, weapon of mass destruction (WMD) and disaster emergencies, as well as how to respond to special rescue situations, such as ice, hazardous terrain, confined spaces, cave-ins, crime scenes, foreground operations and special events.

Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Emergency Medical Response valid for two years as well as a CPR For Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers, valid for two years.

Instructor Level Courses

These classes provide instructor level training and certifications to a candidate who is affiliated with an AP or LTP.

Lifeguard Instructor/Instructor Trainer Review
$125 Per participant
Course Length: 8 hours

 

You are required to take this review class every two years in order to maintain your LGI/IT certification.  You are required to complete your online update before you take the review class.

The purpose of the review session is to practice, improve and polish skills to ensure instructors and instructor trainers can perform the skills and ensure consistency of Red Cross program skills and knowledge across the instructors and instructor trainers.

A participant level certification is not required to maintain your LGI/IT certification, however, there is an optional test out session that can immediately follow the review course.  Anyone wishing to do the optional test out session should plan on staying a few hours past the course end time and paying an additional $50 fee.
